Meet The People Behind The Photos
Photographer - Sarah
Primary Photographer/Owner
Sarah is the founder and owner of Grand Rapids Boudoir. She has been working as a photographer full time since 2011. Looking to add more services into her business, she decided to jump into the boudoir world in 2020 right before the Covid crisis hit. While waiting to go back to work after being shut down she invested her time and thousands of dollars into doing it the right way. Building a studio, collecting a client closet, and investing in education so she could provide the best and safest experience possible. Since then she has grown the boudoir business tremendously, expanding the studio, starting an all female boudoir Facebook group, and growing her clientele.
When coming up with her own style for boudoir photography, she noticed that most work in the boudoir world isn't tailored to each client. That was something she knew she wanted to stray from. While doing research she found a couple photographers online that she could learn and take inspiration from. Her work has since evolved into her own distinct style, using elaborate sets, creative color choices, in-camera practical effects, and a focus on dynamic lighting.
To Sarah, it's not just about taking photos.
"My favorite part of my job is helping my clients see how truly beautiful and unique they are."
Sarah's priority will always be the clients. When you're in the studio, you are always the main focus. Her attention to detail shows her knowledge for her craft but its her personality and professionalism that eases all nerves you may have had before the shoot. The reaction to the images she creates never ceases to surprise her. Since starting the business she has seen how boudoir can change someone's life and how its changed hers.
"Whether it’s for the first time or a happy reminder, the confidence gained within the studio walls is so powerful."
Assistant - Addison
Primary Assistant/Makeup Artist
I am a person who loves all things photography, art, and more. I graduated from Perpich Arts High School where I studied photography and filmmaking. The job listing to work for Sarah found me right after high school and it was the perfect fit! I started with very minimal involvement within the Boudoir brand but as time went on I couldn't stay away! I've taken on many roles in the past 2 years. If you hang around the studio there's a high chance you'll catch me doing one of my many jobs.
Things you may find me doing:
- Working in the office
- Designing a studio set
- Assisting during a shoot
- Doing someones makeup
and many more
This brand means a lot to me and I feel I found it at the right time in my life. Finding the confidence and love for myself at the young age I did feels like a privilege. I owe that to Sarah and the community of women she brought together. I love that I get to be a part of that and share it with others.
My favorite part of my job is seeing the smiles on women's faces when they see themselves from our eyes for the first time!
